Another major factor for businesses to consider along with work-related stress is the state of mind an employee turns up with. Whilst their stress may not be work-related, if it affects their work or performance at work then the business owner should seriously consider providing support. Under performing employees pose a huge unbudgeted cost the business communities!
Early intervention is key, failure to pick up on the signs and symptoms as they develop, could mean that the first time you are made aware is when they are signed off long-term sick.

Whilst both graphics are quite scary, it is clear to see where most of our issues start from. We will all have some inherited traits but our experiences as we grow up will without doubt affect us in later life. Two simple examples that I come across all the time are; children who were made fun of who may have struggled to grasp certain things and told that they were stupid and would never amount to much. And children whose parent were overly pushy, they set extremely high standards that either the children felt undue pressure to achieve or were rewarded for everything and now expect praise for just breathing!
